Lieutenant General Ahmed Khaled Hassan Saeed, Governor of Alexandria, witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between the governorate Alexandria And two private companies, to support the operation of an environmentally friendly smart transportation project, and the establishment of charging stations for electric vehicles, in Sidi Gaber in the Sharq district, Sidi Bishr in the Montazah district, and the Raml station in the Central district, in addition to establishing integrated service units in each location.
Details of the smart transportation project in Alexandria
The Governor of Alexandria stressed that the protocol comes in light of the governorate’s direction towards adopting sustainable transportation solutions, contributing to improving air quality, reducing carbon emissions, and developing the urban transportation system, in line with the Alexandria Metro projects and the development of the Raml Tram, and in a way that enhances the creation of an integrated and environmentally friendly transportation system in Alexandria Governorate.
The protocol aims to provide modern, environmentally friendly transportation services, and to promote the use of electric vehicles as a sustainable and effective solution, through the gradual expansion of the operation of electric vehicles, and relying on smart applications to guide drivers and passengers and improve the user experience.
It was also decided that the trial operation of the service would begin from today for a week, until February 1, in preparation for full operation and evaluation of the technical and operational performance of the service.
The protocol was signed in the presence of a number of executive leaders in the governorate, in a step that reflects the governorate’s keenness to keep pace with global trends in the field of smart transportation and the shift towards a green economy. This comes within the framework of Egypt’s Vision 2030 to expand green transformation projects and encourage clean, low-emission means of transportation.
