Dr. Amr Dowidar, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Sohag, confirmed the provision of free medical and therapeutic services to 4,822 citizens, as part of the convoys of the presidential initiative “A Decent Life” during the month of January 2026, in continuation of the implementation of the state’s vision of achieving health justice.

Dr. Amr Dowidar, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Sohag, said that the directorate carried out 6 comprehensive medical convoys that toured a number of villages most in need of health services, stressing that these efforts reflect the ability of the health sector in the governorate to reach citizens where they are, and to consolidate the vital role of medical convoys within deprived villages.

Dowidar explained that the convoys targeted the villages of Al-Bakhita in Sohag, Al-Farsiyya in Saqalta, Al-Rayina in Saqalta, Hashem Asiri, Awlad Al-Sheikh in Dar Al-Salam, and Al-Lahaywa Qebli in Akhmim, with the aim of providing integrated health care to the people of the targeted villages without burdening them with any burdens.

The Undersecretary added that the convoys included a number of medical specialties, including internal medicine, pediatrics, orthopedics, surgery, ophthalmology, dentistry, dermatology, gynecology and obstetrics, in addition to providing radiology and medical analysis services, and dispensing medications through equipped pharmacies for free.

For her part, Dr. Sahar Awaja, Director of the Medical Convoys Department, confirmed that cases requiring surgical interventions or advanced care are transferred to government hospitals to complete treatment, noting that all services are provided free of charge with full commitment to implementing infection control procedures.

The Sohag Health Directorate confirmed that these convoys are part of the Ministry of Health’s plan to achieve the goals of the “Decent Life” initiative, which aims to alleviate the burden of the most needy citizens and improve the level of health services provided to rural people and the areas most in need of care.

The Sohag Health Directorate, under the leadership of Dr. Amr Dowidar, continues to implement the state’s vision of achieving health justice and providing safe and quality medical service to all the people of the governorate without exception.
