Graves dug by their owners with their own hands to turn into their final resting place after dreams of quick and easy wealth and the obsession with archaeological excavation that afflicted dozens of people in Fayoum Governorate and who turned into victims of their ideas, as Cairo 24 monitored dozens of incidents in the governorate during the last period of victims of antiquities excavation.
During the current year, there is more than one incident in Fayoum
People wake up Fayoum In mid-April, news emerged of the death of two young men, as a pit collapsed on them, while they were excavating for antiquities inside a house in the Sennurs Center, Fayoum Governorate. A report was drawn up about the incident and the prosecution, which undertook the investigation, was notified.
And another in mid-October, when 3 people were killed while they were inside a hole approximately 30 meters deep, while they were excavating for antiquities, in the village of Qasr Al-Basil, affiliated with the Itsa Police Station, in Fayoum Governorate. A civil protection force was able to recover the body of a person, and attempts to remove the two bodies failed.
Before the end of the year, we find new victims in Fayoum, where three young men, including two brothers, were killed as a result of the collapse of a deep hole while they were carrying out illegal excavation work in search of antiquities inside the house of one of them in Ezbet Al-Hadqa, in the Fayoum Center. Until now, civil protection forces are continuing their efforts to recover the bodies from under the rubble after they were swallowed by a hole more than 25 meters deep.
