I received Port Authority Damietta, a delegation from the International Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN), which is concerned with monitoring efforts to eliminate illegal practices in the maritime industry and support the global trade movement, within the framework of the Ministry of Transport’s efforts to enhance the principles of integrity, transparency, and adherence to international standards in the field of maritime transport.

Damietta Port receives a delegation from the International Maritime Anti-Corruption Network to support integrity, governance, and application of global standards

They were received by Rear Admiral Staff Tariq Adly Abdullah, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Damietta Port Authority, in the presence of Rear Admiral Staff Osama Negm, Head of the Central Administration for Maritime Transport Affairs in the Maritime Transport and Logistics Sector, Rear Admiral Staff Dr. Ahmed Hamdi Abdel Aziz, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Damietta Port Authority for Employment, and the leaders of the authorities operating in the port and the authority’s specialists.

The meeting discussed the importance of existing cooperation with specialized international organizations to develop the work system in Egyptian ports, especially with regard to supporting integrity and transparency.

This visit comes in light of the existing cooperation protocol between the international organization and the maritime transport and logistics sector, and as part of the efforts aimed at raising the level of governance and improving the classification of Egyptian ports in the areas of integrity and transparency, in a way that enhances the competitiveness of Damietta Port and consolidates the confidence of shipping lines and the business community in the port’s work environment.

The visit program witnessed the presentation of a presentation on the efforts undertaken by the Damietta Port Authority in the field of governance, digital transformation, development of work systems, and its role in simplifying procedures and accelerating performance rates in conjunction with the establishment of a number of major projects in Damietta Port.

A meeting was also held with the guides, during which visions were exchanged about the nature of the maritime pilotage system inside the port, the mechanism for the entry of ships, and institutional integration efforts between the agencies operating inside the port.

During the meetings, the MACN delegation was briefed on the procedures followed by the Damietta Port Authority to ensure the safety and transparency of maritime transactions and compliance with international standards. They expressed their appreciation for the remarkable development they observed in the institutional work system, stressing that these efforts contribute to strengthening the mental image of Damietta Port as a pivotal port supporting trade movement and supply chains.

At the conclusion of the visit, the Damietta Port Authority confirmed its continued cooperation with relevant international organizations, and the adoption of the best global practices in the areas of governance and integrity, in line with the efforts of the Ministry of Transport, headed by Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, to develop the maritime transport sector and enhance the position of Egyptian ports regionally and internationally.
