Engineer Walid Saeed Ismail, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of the Fayoum Drinking Water and Sanitation Company, announced that the Illegal Connections Committee of the General Administration of Control and Follow-up was able to control and remove 1,752 illegal water connections, as the necessary violations were issued and all legal measures were taken against the violators.

The committee was also able to detect 17 additional violations, including connections before the meter and the use of drinking water in construction work in violation of the law.
The company’s president stressed that these negative practices, such as stealing water, irrigating agricultural lands with drinking water, or spraying streets using hoses, waste large amounts of water, deplete the company’s resources, and hinder efforts to support development projects and develop infrastructure.
The company’s president stressed the continuation of follow-up campaigns and removal of infringements on drinking water networks throughout the governorate, while taking deterrent legal measures against violators, in addition to intensifying awareness campaigns to enhance water awareness among citizens, rationalize consumption, and protect water resources.
The company’s president appealed to citizens to adhere to legal methods for obtaining service, and to avoid illegal practices that cause damage to distribution networks and deprive others of their daily water needs.
The head of the company stressed the necessity of adhering to legal procedures when requesting water connections and not resorting to any illegal practices that harm the networks and cause poor service, noting that the company does not hesitate to provide support to the most vulnerable families by implementing free water connections in cooperation with NGOs and civil society organizations and under the supervision of the Social Solidarity Directorate, in a way that ensures that the service reaches its beneficiaries in a safe and legal manner.
