Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, based on the proposal of the competent minister, issued a decision appointing Dr. Hisham Al-Laithi, Head of the Antiquities Preservation and Registration Sector at the Supreme Council of Antiquities, as Acting Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, for a period of six months, succeeding Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled.
Confirming to Cairo 24.. the appointment of Dr. Hisham Al-Laithi as Acting Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities.
For his part, Sherif Fathi, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled for his efforts during his tenure as Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, wishing him continued success in his future career.
Dr. Hisham Al-Laithi has been head of the Antiquities Preservation and Registration Sector at the Supreme Council of Antiquities since 2023. He has held many leadership positions in the Council, where he served as Director General of the General Administration for Scientific Publishing during the period from 2011 to 2015. Then he was appointed Director General of the General Administration of the Egyptian Antiquities Registration Center in 2015, then Head of the Central Administration of the Egyptian, Greek and Roman Antiquities Area in Cairo and Giza in 2018. He was also assigned to supervise the Egyptian Antiquities Registration Center, as well as supervising the museum and subsidiary antiquities stores and mission stores, and heading a number of archaeological missions in Upper Egypt.
He also participated in many scientific conferences in Egypt and abroad, where he presented many scientific researches and lectures, in addition to his participation in the preparation and coordination of a number of these conferences. He also published about 40 international scientific articles and more in five scientific books. He was also chosen as the first Egyptian archaeologist and honorary researcher at the Griffith Institute of the University of Oxford.
Dr. Hisham Al-Laithi obtained a master’s degree in Egyptian antiquities in 2001, and he also obtained a doctorate in 2012.
