imposed ChinaToday, Friday, sanctions were imposed on a number of American defense companies and their senior executives, in response to American arms sales to Taiwan, which China considers part of its territory.
The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the imposition of sanctions on 20 American defense companies and 10 individuals, following a US arms deal to Taiwan worth $11.1 billion, which is one of the largest deals between the two countries.
The ministry stated in a statement: Any provocative actions that cross the red lines in the Taiwan issue will face a strong response from China, warning the United States against continuing to arm the island, according to the Chinese newspaper Global Times.
China imposes sanctions on 30 American individuals and companies
Among the companies targeted in the sanctions are Boeing’s St. Louis branch, Northrop Grumman, L3 Harris Marine Services, and Lazarus Artificial Intelligence.
The sanctions include freezing the assets of these companies in China and preventing local individuals and organizations from dealing with them, in addition to imposing restrictions on the entry of sanctioned individuals into China.
The sanctions also target the founder of Anduril Defense Industries, in addition to 9 senior executives in the sanctioned companies, and these measures entered into force on December 26.
