A delegation from Al-Azhar Al-Sharif heads to the Spanish capital, Madrid, under the guidance of His Eminence the Grand Imam, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, with an Al-Azhar message that seeks to consolidate tolerance, global coexistence, and the security of intellectual awareness in the face of contemporary challenges, by participating in the activities of the scientific conference organized by the Islamic Cultural Center of Pleganes – Madrid next Monday, under the title: The role of religious institutions in creating safe intellectual awareness and its repercussions on the safety of societies, with the participation of an elite group of Al-Azhar scholars and experts from European universities.

The conference will be held with the participation of: Prof. Dr. Abbas Shoman, Secretary-General of the Council of Senior Scholars at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Al-Jundi, Secretary-General of the Islamic Research Academy, and Dr. Thelia Tebeth, Professor of Psychological Sciences at Complutense University, and Prof. Antonio Nyabro, Professor of Religious Sciences at the University of Cordoba, along with a number of religious and academic leaders.
The Secretary-General of the Islamic Research Academy stressed that supporting intellectual awareness and protecting societies from waves of extremism and cognitive confusion represent one of the most important priorities of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif in the digital age, adding that institutions concerned with the intellectual aspect today are required to play deeper and more effective roles, not limited to traditional discourse, but rather extending to building a critical awareness capable of sorting information, fortifying minds, and strengthening societal ties away from attempts at polarization and spreading intellectual panic.
Al-Jundi stressed that cooperation between religious institutions, universities and European research centers represents a pivotal step towards building a common understanding about protecting societies, explaining that Al-Azhar’s speech is based on three basic pillars: a disciplined understanding of the text, scientific awareness of reality, and a balance between constants and the variables of the era.
Al-Jundi added that this conference is gaining special importance in light of the great expansion of digital content affecting the awareness of young people, pointing out that safe awareness is not granted from the outside, but rather is built internally through solid education, strong institutions, good role models, and media systems characterized by professional integrity, indicating that Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, under the leadership of His Eminence the Grand Imam Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb – Sheikh of Al-Azhar works to develop programs for global communication in multiple languages with the aim of supporting Al-Azhar’s rational presence in the international scene, and presenting a discourse that rises to the level of accelerating intellectual challenges.
This conference comes within the framework of the efforts of the Islamic Cultural Center in Madrid to discuss issues of community awareness and positive integration, with broad official and academic participation.
