Preacher Walid Ismail issued an explanatory statement in response to the controversy raised on social media regarding a circulating video clip, which he considered “truncated from its original context,” and denied what was circulated about it containing an insult to the parents of the Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace.
Walid Ismail issues an explanatory statement regarding a fragmented video circulating
Ismail explained that the clip dates back more than three years, and was part of a scientific debate with a member of the Shiite sect, which dealt with a specific jurisprudential issue. He stressed that during the dialogue he used the “command” method based on the books and references of the other party to explain what he described as a contradiction in the proposal, stressing that his speech was not a matter of personal information or expression of a subjective position.
He pointed out that the video circulating was cut from the middle of the dialogue, which took it – according to his description – out of its full context, and showed it in a way that suggested mockery, while the full recording proves that it was in the context of a scientific response to a raised suspicion.
He pointed out that there is a difference between scientific presentation in the context of a debate, and ridicule or mockery, which he said is not befitting the status of prophethood.
The preacher stressed that his advocacy approach is based on respecting the position of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and everything related to him, calling for verification and not rushing to issue judgments, especially in issues related to religious constants. He also expressed his appreciation for those who are jealous of the position of prophethood, stressing that his permanent goal is to defend the religion and explain the truth.
