Egyptian rule revealed, Mustafa Al-Shahdiabout the date of his undergoing surgery, after suffering a tear in the cruciate ligament of the knee while managing the match between Modern Sport and El Gouna, in the Premier League competitions (Survival Group).

In television statements, Al-Shahdi expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Egyptian football stars who were keen to check on his health condition after the severe injury.

The referee said: I received phone calls and messages of support from many players, most notably Imam Ashour, the Al-Ahly club’s midfield star, and Al-Mahdi Soliman, the Zamalek club’s goalkeeper, to check on my injury and support me in my ordeal.

Surgery date and injury details

Regarding the developments in his medical condition, Al-Shahdi said: I will undergo surgery within a maximum of two weeks, after tests confirmed that I had a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee.

Referee Mustafa Al-Shahdi collapsed as a result of his injury while officiating the match between Modern Sport and El Gouna, which was held within the matches of the fourth round of matches determining survival and relegation in the Egyptian League, and he was unable to complete the match.

After the match, the Egyptian Football Association issued an official statement confirming the final diagnosis of the case, noting that the medical examinations and MRI that the referee underwent revealed that he had a complete tear in the cruciate ligament, accompanied by a tear in the internal ligament of the knee, which requires surgical intervention.
