I witnessed Poultry prices A slight increase in local markets during today’s trading, Wednesday, January 14, 2026, while red meat prices declined in the Egyptian market, compared to their levels yesterday, according to data from the local and international price portal of the Cabinet Information Center.

It was average Price per kilo of poultry Live meat in the markets was about 96.84 pounds, an increase of 77 piasters over yesterday’s prices. On the other hand, the average price of a kilo of red meat was about 400.63 pounds, down by 2.86 pounds compared to the previous day’s trading.

The chick market witnessed stability in prices, with the prices of company chicks ranging between 20 and 22 pounds, while the price of a regular chick reached 15 pounds, while the prices of eggs ranged between 117 and 120 pounds and were sold at 135 pounds to the consumer.

Investments in the poultry industry exceed 100 billion pounds

Earlier, Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, revealed that investments in the poultry industry sector in the Egyptian market exceeded 100 billion pounds, stressing that this sector represents a strategic pillar for national food security at the beginning of 2026.

The Minister explained, in media statements, that the industry includes more than 38,000 commercial establishments with a huge annual production of 1.6 billion fattening birds, in addition to the production of approximately 16 billion eggs annually.

The minister pointed out that the state places the poultry sector in the focus of its attention, and seeks to enhance its production capabilities in light of the relative stability of the exchange rate and the decline in interest rates, which are factors that are in the interest of the producer and consumer alike.

Farouk confirmed that there is full coordination between the Ministries of Agriculture and Supply, the Unified Purchasing Authority, and the Egypt Future Authority to pump larger quantities of production into the markets in the coming days, with the aim of maintaining price stability and reducing them.
