Representative Muhammad Abdullah Zain Al-Din, a member of the House of Representatives, asked the government to take a decision regarding canceling the decision to close municipal bakeries for violations, and replacing it with a financial fine.
A parliamentarian calls on the government to abolish the penalty for closing bakeries in case of violation
The representative explained that the decision to close municipal bakeries amounts to a punishment for citizens, and not a punishment for the bakery owner who committed the violation.
Zain Al-Din pointed out that transferring the ration to another bakery represents suffering for citizens, especially if the bakery to which the ration is transferred is in an area far from the citizens.
The member of the House of Representatives asked the Minister of Supply to issue a ministerial decision requiring that the penalty for closing municipal bakeries when a violation occurs be replaced with a fine, out of concern for the interest of citizens.
Representative Muhammad Zain al-Din said: The financial penalty is more deterrent to the bakery owner, which motivates him not to repeat the violation again, and it is better than closure, which represents a punishment for citizens.
