In a poignant humanitarian scene, the young man Ahmed, from the Beni Mazar Center in Minya Governorate, continues his daily struggle in the streets, defying the loss of his sight, after a sudden incident changed the entire course of his life, setting a living example of persistence and honorable work despite the harsh circumstances.

Speaking to Cairo 24, Ahmed said that his life was turned upside down after he suffered an accident while working on preparing household chemicals for detergents, which caused him to completely lose his sight, and since then he no longer saw the light, but he did not surrender to despair or helplessness.

He added that he decided to go out to the street and sell prayer beads and perfumes, in an effort to make a “halal” living, and to save the cost of a surgery that he hopes will restore his sight, saying: “I wish I could open my eyes and see my son, who is still behind me.”

Ahmed confirmed that he refuses to sit at home or depend on others, explaining: “I love work and I don’t like staying at home, and I don’t want to be disabled in my own eyes before people’s eyes,” noting that he challenges his disability every day with his will and faith.

The blind young man continued his speech with poignant words, saying: “The conscience of the people is what I see,” stressing that the people of the region support and love him, and do not hesitate to support him and pray for his recovery, which gives him energy of hope to continue his difficult journey.

Ahmed’s story remains an inspiring model of human struggle, and a clear message that disability does not prevent work, and that hope may be born from the womb of pain, waiting for his greatest wish to regain his sight and embrace his son with his eyes before his heart to be fulfilled.
