The efforts of the Red Sea Veterinary Directorate to tighten control over markets resulted in the seizure of quantities of meat and poultry unfit for human consumption, within the framework of preserving the health and safety of citizens, and in implementation of the directives of Major General Amr Hanafi, Governor of the Red Sea, and commissioned by Dr. Rasha Salah Ahmed, Director of the Veterinary Medicine Directorate. The Veterinary Medicine Directorate carried out a joint inspection campaign targeting places where meat and poultry are sold and displayed in restaurants, frozen shops and supermarkets, with the participation of a committee of meat inspection doctors and slaughterhouses.
The campaign resulted in the seizure of an estimated quantity of 225 kilograms of meat and poultry unfit for human consumption. A report was drawn up on the incident, the seized items were seized, and handed over to the competent authority to take the necessary legal measures against violators.
The Red Sea Veterinary Medicine Directorate confirmed that control campaigns are continuing in all cities and regions of the governorate, as part of an integrated plan aimed at tightening control over markets, ensuring the safety of the supply of food commodities, and ensuring safe and sound food access to citizens, while taking deterrent measures against any violations affecting public health.
