Today, Friday, the city of St. Catherine witnessed a turnout of tourists of various nationalities, many Egyptian visitors and students of Suez Canal University, to climb Mount Moses to watch the sunrise from the highest mountain peak, and visit St. Catherine’s Monastery, historical places, colorful valleys, St. Catherine’s Reserve, and the rest house of the late President Anwar Sadat.

Ibrahim Abdel Halim, Director General of Public Relations and Media in the City of St. Catherine, told Cairo 24 that the city of St. Catherine witnessed today, Friday, a large turnout of tourists, visitors and university students, coinciding with the mid-year vacation, to climb Mount Moses to watch the sunrise and enjoy the spiritual atmosphere, visit the Monastery of St. Catherine and its religious sanctities, hold prayers, visit the blessed tree and the Church of the Transfiguration, visit the colorful valleys and enjoy the beauty of the city. Nature.

1208 tourists and visitors

Abdel Halim confirmed that the city received 1,208 tourists and visitors today, including 576 Egyptians, and 632 tourists representing the countries: Germany, Russia, Indonesia, Romania, China, Korea, America, India, Denmark, Bulgaria, Hungary, the Philippines, the Netherlands, and Poland.

Abdel Halim revealed that the total number of tourists who climbed Mount Moses reached 706, including 411 Egyptians, while the number of those who visited St. Catherine Monastery reached 502, including 165 Egyptians.

Abdel Halim pointed out that tourists flock to the city of St. Catherine every day after midnight to prepare to climb Mount Moses to watch the sunrise. After finishing, they go to the monastery to visit the religious and historical sanctities and perform many prayers, and visit the church, library and museum of the monastery to view hundreds of rare manuscripts every day except Sunday, which is the day designated for the monastery’s holiday to perform prayers for the monastery’s monks.

Abdel Halim revealed that today, Friday, the city is witnessing warm weather during the day, with the temperature reaching 18°, while it drops at night to reach 6°. Despite this, the number of Egyptian tourists and visitors to the city is increasing during the mid-year school vacation, and everyone is racing to climb the mountain and enjoy sunrise trips, whether on foot or by riding camels.

He pointed out that the city is witnessing a tourism boom and a large number of tourists from several countries during the winter, in order to enjoy the winter weather, and frost sometimes forms on the peaks of St. Catherine’s Mountains in a wonderful and unique view.

Visit colorful and protected valleys

After finishing climbing Mount Moses, watching the sunrise, enjoying yoga exercises, and eating breakfast, tourists visit the colorful valleys, visit the rest house of the late President Anwar Sadat, learn about his residence, Bedouin camping areas, and make marketing tours to buy medicinal herbs, and Sinai and Bedouin crafts.
