Menoufia Governorate launched a massive inspection campaign aimed at confronting those who tamper with citizens’ health, and resulted in the seizure of diseased carcasses unfit for human use that were slaughtered outside government slaughterhouses in the city of Menouf, in a new pre-emptive strike within the governorate’s efforts to protect consumers.

Major General Ibrahim Abu Laymoun, Governor of Menoufia, confirmed that the accused were arrested and the entire incident was referred to the Public Prosecution, which issued a decision to arrest and bring those involved and take the necessary legal measures against them, noting that the seized items, amounting to 1.8 tons of meat, were destroyed, in addition to the execution of sick animals and their disposal through safe health methods through veterinary medicine.

Menoufia Governor: 1.8 tons of meat from sick slaughtered animals and 3 pre-slaughter livestock were seized and the accused were referred to the prosecution.

The seizure came after a surprise campaign by veterinary medicine in Menoufia, the local unit of the center and city of Menouf, and the Supply Investigation Department, in coordination with the security authorities. The campaign was able to seize carcasses infected with acute pericarditis and unfit for consumption, in addition to 3 sick livestock that were prepared for slaughter outside the legal framework.

Walid Salem, head of the local unit of the center and city of Menouf, Colonel Ahmed Abu Al-Saud, director of the Supply Investigations, Dr. Majed Abdel Zaher, director of the Veterinary Medicine Directorate, and Dr. Taha Rizk, director of the slaughterhouses and meat inspection department, participated in the campaign.

The Governor of Menoufia praised the efforts of veterinary medicine, the supply investigations, and the executive agencies, stressing the continuation of launching strong campaigns to strike with an iron hand at anyone who tampers with the health and safety of citizens, and to continue working to eliminate any violations affecting public health.
