As previously reported, Ubisoft has canceled six games as part of its latest cost-cutting measures. Insider Gaming has now revealed the affected titles.

Ubisoft has been facing challenges for some time. At the beginning of the year, the company announced extensive cost-cutting measures and confirmed the cessation of work on six projects. Until now, it was not clear which addresses were affected. Now, a new report from Insider Gaming, citing inside sources, sheds light on the situation. According to the site, Ubisoft canceled the following projects as part of its restructuring:

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake: A remake of the 2003 classic, originally announced in 2020.

Project Aether: In development since 2019, it reportedly focused on Ubisoft’s “Scalar” technology.

Project Pathfinder: Formerly known as “Project U”, it is a cooperative multiplayer project with an unclear gameplay loop.

Project Crest: An extraction shooter set in World War II with a 10-year live-service model planned.

Assassin’s Creed Rebellion: Previously released mobile game that will be discontinued.

Assassin’s Creed Singularity: An unannounced mobile project with a planned PC version that has reportedly been in development for several years.

Although many expected this move, the Reddit community reacted with clear disappointment towards the cancellation of the Prince of Persia remake. According to Insider Gaming, the project was reportedly already in the final stages of development but failed to meet internal quality standards. It appears that Ubisoft intervened at the last minute to prevent a weak release from damaging the brand. Fans can only hope that the remake will eventually be revived. Insider Gaming also reports that Project Aether will be at least partially integrated into a new project.

In general, a state of pessimism prevails within society. Many view the cancellations not as a bold new beginning but as another sign of an ongoing crisis. Meanwhile, concerns are growing over the company’s remaining brands. What does the future hold for Splinter Cell, Far Cry, or future Assassin’s Creed spin-offs? Ubisoft describes the move as a necessary reorganization and revised operating model. In the short term, the changes will lead to further cuts. In the long term, the company aims to sharpen its focus and raise quality standards. However, whether this strategy ultimately succeeds will only become clear in the coming years.
