The company that developed the video conferencing application (Zoom) announced that the application’s user base has grown by 50% to 300 million users in the last three weeks, as the company seeks to respond to the violent reaction regarding security and safety, which prompted many governments and companies to ban the application.

Zoom shares – which have multiplied 5 times since the company became a public company in March of last year – rose by 12%, to a record level of $168.24 today, Thursday. The company’s CEO, Eric Yuan, announced the numbers late Wednesday in an update on a 90-day security plan for the platform.

He said: Next week, the company will launch a new version of the application with more encryption features. This progress for the Zoom application comes even as new companies have joined the list prohibiting its use, such as: the German car manufacturer (Mercedes). Bloomberg reported that wireless technology maker NXP also banned the use of the application to communicate with external parties, and employees of the Swedish telecommunications company (Ericsson) were advised not to use it. It is noteworthy that the (Zoom) application was banned in many schools around the world, in addition to the space industries company (SpaceX) owned by the famous entrepreneur (Elon Musk), and it was also banned by governments in Germany, Taiwan, and Singapore.

The closure resulting from the outbreak of the new coronavirus (Covid-19) COVID-19 led to a huge increase in the demand of millions of users around the world for video conferencing applications, such as: (Zoom), Skype, and (Teams) from Microsoft.
