Sony will launch the WF-1000XM6 earbuds on February 12, and in the meantime, it has published a blog post The Walkman Blog Comparison images highlight the differences between the WF-1000XM6 and its two direct predecessors.
Sony only has one day left before the WF-1000XM6 is unveiled globally. Coincidentally, the company also confirmed yesterday that it will be updating the older WH-1000XM6 model during the same event (current price is $398 on Amazon). Based on recent leaks and rumors, the latter will be a visual update rather than a hardware update.
To be clear, the design of the WF-1000XM6 is already known. While we wait for the official launch, Sony shared The Walkman Blog Comparison images highlight the differences between versions of Sony’s recent WF-1000X earbuds. As the image below shows, the WF-1000XM5 is the smallest of the three, while the WF-1000XM4 is the tallest of the bunch.
However, the WF-1000XM6 is thicker than the WF-1000XM4. Sony’s upcoming pair of wireless earbuds is also noticeably longer than the previous model, the WF-1000XM5; Hence, the WF-1000XM6 is expected to protrude from the ear more than its predecessors. However, it remains to be seen whether Sony’s design changes will impact comfort and ergonomics at this point.
The WF-1000XM6 should go on sale shortly after 16:00 UTC on February 12. Currently, Sony is expected to price the new wireless earbuds at $329.99 in the US and €299.99 in the Eurozone.
