The RePod Ultra Case promises to breathe new life into your Apple Watch Ultra by moving it from your wrist to your palm, but is it really worth it? The “RePod Ultra” concept turns the Apple Watch Ultra into a kind of modern cyberpunk MP3 player, strongly reminiscent of the era of the iPod and its famous click wheel. Regarding the purpose of the product, the manufacturer argues that many Apple Watch Ultra watches sit unused in drawers, and that this case offers a solution for repurposing the device.
But are there really that many $800 smartwatches lying around in drawers? Perhaps the most realistic reason to use this case is that it can turn your Apple Watch into a “dumbphone” or digital detox tool. The RePod allows users to leave their smartphones at home while staying connected and accessing essential functions (such as music, maps, Apple Pay, messaging, etc.) without the constant distractions of social media apps on the phone’s large screen.
Although the RePod Ultra is WPG’s first product on Kickstarter, the company already has similar devices available on Amazon. Backers can pre-order the RePod Ultra for $79, with delivery scheduled to begin in April 2026. However, caution is advised regarding crowdfunding campaigns, which involve certain risks, including the possibility that the product may not perform as advertised or may not reach the market at all.
