Nightcore officially announced the new Pocket 5 magnetic power bank dedicated to charging phones. The company had presented a first glimpse of this device during the IWA exhibition in Nuremberg without revealing the launch date at the time, so the full reveal comes today of this version, which features a capacity of 5000 mAh and a superior ability to magnetically attach to phones compatible with MagSafe and Qi2 technologies to provide a comfortable wireless charging experience.

As expected from an industry-leading brand, the internal battery is designed to store slightly more power than standard power banks of the same capacity, delivering 19.35 watt-hours of power compared to the usual 18.50 watt-hours. The device can provide 17 watts per hour when drawing a current of 2.4 amps at a voltage of 5 volts, and the company is considered one of the very few companies that includes these precise details of the estimated power in the official specifications of its products.

The new power bank comes with a slim design with a thickness of 9 mm and a light weight of only 125 grams to make it easy to carry in the pocket. These compact dimensions make the device slightly larger and heavier compared to the Nano Power Bank from Anker, while the new magnetic version from Xiaomi remains the thinnest in this category with a thickness of only about 6 mm, but this slight difference in size is justified by the presence of additional compact and practical features.

This version is unique in that it contains a built-in USB-C cable that allows other devices to be charged at a wired speed of up to 22.5 watts. The power bank itself supports the possibility of fast recharging with a power of 18 watts via the built-in USB-C port, and what is interesting about the innovative design language is the possibility of bending the built-in cable and inserting its end into its port to form a sturdy loop that can be used as a comfortable handle to carry the device very easily while moving from one place to another.

The device supports the pass-through charging feature, which allows the power bank and the phone connected to it to be charged at the same time thanks to multiple input and output options. The company guarantees the device’s water resistance to the IPX7 standard, with its ability to operate highly efficiently in a temperature range between minus 10 and 35 degrees Celsius. The device will be available to users in the colors cobalt blue, titanium gray, and metallic orange, while the company has not announced official pricing details yet.
