MediaTek quietly unveiled its new Dimensity 7100 processor, which likely comes as a direct successor to the Dimensity 7050 processor, with clear improvements in performance and technical support.

The processor relies on an eight-core central processing unit, which includes four Arm Cortex-A78 cores with a frequency of up to 2.4 GHz, along with four Cortex-A55 cores with a frequency of up to 2 GHz, which provides a balance between high performance and energy efficiency.

The central processing unit is accompanied by a Mali-G610 MC2 graphics processor, while the processor supports LPDDR5 memory at a speed of 5500 Mbps and LPDDR4x at a speed of 4266 Mbps, with support for UFS 3.1 storage units. It also allows the use of cameras with a resolution of up to 200 megapixels, and supports screens with a resolution of up to 1200 x 2600 pixels with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz.

In terms of connectivity, the Dimensity 7100 integrates a 5G modem that supports the operation of two 5G SIM cards at the same time, with a maximum download speed of up to 3.3 Gbps. In addition, the processor supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 technologies, in addition to global positioning systems such as GPS, BeiDou, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, and NavIC.

The Infinix Note Edge is expected to be the first device powered by the Dimensity 7100 processor when it is launched later this month, unless the Tecno Pova Curve 2 precedes it.
