
The team was concluded by an engineer Kamel Al-WazirDeputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, made his official visit to the Republic of Djibouti, with the participation of a delegation of major Egyptian companies working in the fields of infrastructure and transportation, during the expanded meeting of the Egyptian-Djibouti Business Council. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Djiboutian government, the Egyptian and Djiboutian ambassadors, in addition to members of the Business Council and companies specialized in maritime transport.
During his speech, the Minister stressed that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s visit to Djibouti in 2025 constituted a turning point in bilateral relations between the two countries, and culminated the Egyptian trend to enhance continuous cooperation with Djibouti, while building on the previous mutual presidential visits between the two countries in 2021 and 2022. He explained that the meetings focused on enhancing economic and investment cooperation and transforming them into real projects and opportunities on the ground, in a way that supports sustainable development paths in the two countries.
The minister pointed out that the visit of the delegation of Egyptian companies comes within the framework of following up on the implementation of the outcomes of the recent presidential visit, with a focus on vital priority sectors, which include ports and free zones, the energy sector, infrastructure and transportation, the economic and commercial field, marine fishing, health, sports and culture, which reflects a comprehensive vision for building a strategic and sustainable development partnership between Egypt and Djibouti.
The Minister stressed the importance of the private sector as a major partner in implementing joint cooperation directions, calling on the Djiboutian side to enhance the participation of Egyptian companies in various investment projects, especially in the fields of ports and logistics services, free zones, transportation and infrastructure, energy and related industries. He pointed out that the Egyptian delegation includes major government and private companies with extensive experience in implementing infrastructure projects, such as the Holding Company for Land and Maritime Transport, the Holding Company for Road and Bridge Projects, Al-Suwaidi Group, EDEX, Qased Khair, Al-Rowad, and Misr Construction.
The minister added that Egypt has taken great strides in recent years to develop infrastructure, including a network of roads and bridges, sea and dry ports, logistics areas, sustainable green mass transportation, and renewable energy stations, in addition to programs to support national industry in accordance with Egypt’s Industrial Vision 2030, and to transform Egypt into an industrial and regional center for transit trade.
At the conclusion of his speech, Kamel Al-Wazir affirmed Egypt’s full commitment to supporting relations with Djibouti, and transforming agreements and directives into concrete executive steps that serve the interests of the two peoples, and enhance economic and investment cooperation between the two brotherly countries.
