IKEA has announced its first entry into CES 2026, with the unveiling of a new $6 smart bulb that supports the Matter standard for compatibility with various smart home systems. This bulb is part of a new lighting lineup focused on universal compatibility and low price to make smart homes more accessible.
The new bulb comes in a standard E26 design with a brightness of up to 800 lumens, adjustable color temperature from 2700K to 6500K, and supports control via app or voice commands with Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple Home without the need for an additional bridge. Matter supports instant integration with most smart systems, with low power consumption and durability of up to 25,000 hours.
IKEA also announced updates to the Home Smart app to support Matter more broadly, adding new lamps and switches that support the same standard, with a focus on compatibility between different brands. The company did not specify exact availability dates for the lamp, but it is expected to hit the market during the first quarter of 2026 at a price of $6 per unit, with multiple packages at lower prices.
The move is seen as an attempt by IKEA to strengthen its position in the smart home market with cheap and compatible products, especially with the growing popularity of Matter as a unifying standard.
