The Chest Hospital on Shandawil Island, affiliated with the Directorate of Health Affairs, testifies In SohagThere was a state of anxiety among the nursing staff, after the repeated appearance of snakes inside the hospital vicinity, which raised concerns regarding the safety of workers and patients alike.

A number of nursing personnel confirmed that they are suffering from a direct threat to their lives as a result of seeing snakes inside some departments and corridors, noting that the matter caused a state of panic among workers, and prompted some of them to refuse to attend work shifts for fear of being exposed to any harm, especially during the evening shifts.

They added that complaints had been submitted to the hospital administration more than once, demanding rapid intervention and urgent measures to combat the reptiles and secure the entire building. However, according to their accounts, they had not seen any actual action yet to address the crisis radically.

The nursing staff called on the concerned authorities to quickly inspect the hospital’s surroundings and interior, spray open areas, and close any openings that might cause snakes to infiltrate, in order to preserve the lives of workers and patients, and to ensure the continued provision of medical service without obstacles or risks that threaten public safety.

It is worth noting that Al-Sadr Hospital was moved from its old location in Takamul Tunis Hospital to the new headquarters inside the Shandawil Island Central Hospital, as part of a plan to develop health services and exploit medical facilities at the governorate level.
In 2020, a comprehensive development of the hospital was announced and its opening after increasing efficiency at a cost estimated at about 20 million pounds, which included modernizing the infrastructure, internal departments, and residence and care rooms.
