Official holidays in 2026

In continuation of the government approach in recent years, it is expected that some official holidays will be transferred to the weekend, with the aim of giving citizens continuous rest periods and enhancing productivity after returning to work.

The Labor Law stipulates that annual leave dates are determined according to work conditions, and they may not be interrupted except for reasons required by the public interest. The worker is also obligated to adhere to the dates specified by the employer, and his right to cash compensation for leave is forfeited if he rejects it in writing.

The law grants workers the right to obtain leave with full pay on official holidays determined by the competent minister for a maximum of 13 days annually, provided that the worker is given double pay if he is employed during them.

Annual leaves in the new labor law

The new labor law specifies the annual leaves allocated to workers in the private sector according to their length of service as follows:

-15 days in the first year of work.

-21 days after completion of the second year.

-30 days for those who have spent ten years or are over fifty years old.

-45 days for people with disabilities and dwarves.

-Addition of 7 days for workers in hazardous professions or remote areas.

The law confirms that annual leave does not include official or weekly leave, nor is it permissible for the worker to waive it. The employer is obligated to settle the leave balance or pay its allowance every three years as a maximum.

Casual leave and emergency leave for parents

The worker has the right to stop working for occasional reasons for a period of 7 days annually (maximum of two consecutive days).

The law also stipulates for the first time emergency leave for fathers on the day of birth, a maximum of 3 times throughout the period of service, granted with pay and not deducted from the annual balance.
