Counselor Osama Abu Al-Majd, head of the association, said Car dealersIt is expected that there will be a decline in the prices of used cars in the Egyptian market during the coming period until the beginning of the new year 2026, by rates ranging between 2 and 5%, confirming that what is being circulated about large increases in prices is incorrect.

He explained in exclusive statements to Cairo 24 that the chances of increasing car prices are weak, especially after some brands reduced the prices of their models, in light of the strong competition within the Egyptian market, especially in the category of cars that range between 700 thousand and one and a half million pounds.

Reasons behind the decrease in purchasing demand

Abu Al-Majd pointed out that the current supply of cars exceeds the volume of demand, but consumers do not make purchases except when they sense the presence of risks such as the rise in the price of the dollar, which prompts them to move for fear of a possible increase in prices. He added that the volume of supply heralded a greater purchasing movement, but this has not been achieved so far.

Regarding what is being raised about the launch of new cars at prices starting from half a million pounds, Abu Al-Magd confirmed that this matter is already expected at the beginning of the new year, as a result of the entry of multiple Chinese brands into the Egyptian market during 2026.

The president of the association explained that economic cars are the most reliable and widespread in Egypt, and that the introduction of these new models will contribute to increasing supply and providing options at reasonable prices to consumers.

New heights and the return of the best prices

Abu Al-Majd concluded his statements, warning that implementing the decision to move car showrooms outside residential blocks may lead to the exit of about 50% of the showrooms from the market, which may cause a new wave of price hikes and perhaps the return of the overprice phenomenon.
