Apple is preparing to launch its first foldable phone, currently known as the iPhone Fold, next year according to circulating leaks. While expectations are rising around the device, a new report from market research company IDC reveals a clearer picture of the potential impact of this phone on the foldable device market.

The report expects that the iPhone Fold will capture more than 22% of the global share of the foldable phone market in 2026. IDC also expects that the phone will control 34% of the value of this market, due to its expected price, which may reach $2,400.

The report also indicates that the foldable phone category will see increased interest from consumers thanks to the launch of the iPhone Fold, in addition to the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold and upcoming foldable devices from Huawei.

It is expected that foldable phones will continue to achieve stronger performance than the smartphone market in general in 2026, representing more than 10% of the total value of the phone market by 2029.

As for the expected specifications of the iPhone Fold, it is rumored that it will come with a 5.8-inch external screen, and a 7.58-inch flexible internal screen, in addition to a larger battery than the one in the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
