Huawei officially announced the Mate 80 and Mate 80 Pro, two devices that are very similar in design and basic components, especially the screen and battery, with clear differences in performance and cameras.
The series comes with one identical display: a 6.75-inch LTPO OLED panel, with a frequency of 1-120Hz and a resolution of 1280 x 2832, and full support for the P3 color gamut. The screen displays 1.07 billion colors, and uses PWM dimming at 1440Hz with a touch response of 300Hz.
Huawei confirms that this screen is the brightest in a phone to date, reaching 8,000 nits, and is protected by a second-generation Kunlun Glass layer.
The two phones support a side fingerprint and 3D ToF facial recognition technology, in addition to satellite communication.

The Mate 80 Pro works with the Kirin 9030 chip, while the Mate 80 comes with the Kirin 9020 chip. Huawei says that the 9030 is 35% faster than the 9020, and the latter is a similar percentage faster than the 9010. The memory in the two phones starts from 12GB up to 16GB in the highest version.
The devices carry a 5,750 mAh battery, but the Mate 80 Pro charges faster: 100W wired and 80W wireless, while the Mate 80 charges with 66W wired and 50W wireless capabilities.
In photography, both phones use a 13MP front camera. As for the back, they each have a 50MP main camera with a variable f/1.4-f/4.0 aperture and a large RYYB sensor.
The Mate 80 has a 12MP telephoto camera with 5.5x zoom, while the Mate 80 Pro gets a better telephoto camera with a 48MP resolution and f/2.1 aperture. The series relies on the second generation Red Maple image processor to improve color and processing.
The series runs on HarmonyOS 6 with a new interface and improved artificial intelligence capabilities.
