Mozilla – the organization responsible for developing the Firefox web browser – launched the Firefox 75 version, which brought some improvements and changes in terms of searching and accessing websites quickly and easily. Below we will learn how to turn off the new address bar in Firefox 75: What’s new in the new Firefox 75 version? With the new (Firefox 75) release, you can now use the browser’s address bar to access the sites you visit quickly and easily. For example, by simply clicking on the empty address bar, you will get a list of the sites you visit frequently to facilitate access to them.
If any of these sites are already open in your browser, the site’s URL will be replaced with a small, handy link called Switch to Tab, which will automatically take you to the site, instead of typing the site address again without having to open more unnecessary windows. Mozilla adds: Firefox will also suggest more potential common search terms if you start typing everything you’re looking for in the address bar. This functionality has been improved to fit smaller laptop screens, with improved search suggestions and a focus on new search terms.
How to disable the new address bar in Firefox 75: If you do not like the new change in Firefox 75 related to searching in the address bar directly, you can stop it and return to the old address bar experience, through four commands that you can modify in the Firefox preferences tab. To do this, follow the following steps:
- In the address bar, type the following: (about:config).
- Copy and paste this command into the search box (browser.urlbar.update1). You’ll see all four commands at once.
- Double-click each command to change its state from true to false.
- Restart the browser again.
- When you click on the address bar next, you won’t see a pop-up menu with a lot of suggestions, but you will still see some helpful suggestions when you start typing and that’s something you can’t avoid. But at least you won’t have to sift and search to find your best sites to visit, or open tons of tabs every time you click on the address bar.
