Some companies resort to reducing the supply of their new products in order to create a state of media momentum, and it seems that Samsung is currently following this method in Korea with the Galaxy Z TriFold phone.

After the first batch sold out within a few minutes of the start of sales a few days ago, the company returned to offering a new quantity this week, but it also sold out within only two minutes.

Although quantities ran out quickly, reports indicate that stock was very limited from the beginning. The number of units sold the first time was only about 1,000 devices, while the total number of units launched so far, including the second batch, reached about 3,000 units.

In a country with a population of more than 50 million, this number is very small, which raises questions about Samsung’s strategy. The company could have waited until larger quantities were produced before launching the phone, or proceeded with selling it in limited quantities to ensure its rapid exhaustion and generate media headlines suggesting massive demand. It is clear which option Samsung chose.

The Galaxy Z TriFold is expected to arrive in other markets in the coming weeks, including the United States, the Emirates, Singapore, China and Taiwan. With this inventory management policy, it may not be surprising to see the same stock-out scenario in these markets as well.
