A report issued by DealSite stated that Samsung intends to integrate a new display technology into its foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Fold8, expected to be launched this summer.
This technology will contribute to reducing the visibility of screen wrinkles by approximately 20%, although it is difficult to determine an accurate standard to reliably measure the level of wrinkle appearance.
In this context, the company will rely on ultra-thin UTG glass not only in the upper layer of the screen, but also in the lower part of it. In addition, Samsung will add a laser-perforated metal backing plate to reinforce the structure of the foldable phone, which will further help reduce creasing and improve the durability of the hinge.

In terms of comparison, this approach differs from the expected design of the iPhone Fold, which rumors indicate is based on a glass base for the screen, although it continues to have the foldable screen from Samsung itself.
It is noteworthy that Samsung had demonstrated during CES 2026 a foldable screen that was almost wrinkle-free, but it cannot be confirmed yet whether this same screen will be used in the Galaxy Z Fold8 or not.
