Esel has launched its new eUrban electric bike for city driving, which features a unique design based on ash wood instead of the traditional aluminum alloy frames used in competing bikes. The bike comes with a hollow wooden frame called Esel Hollow Tec to combine elegance and durability, and is available in the market in two different versions: the basic version and the high-performance version to meet the different requirements of riders, with a total weight of about 16.5 kilograms for the lighter version.
The main differences between both versions lie in weight, transmission and tires, as the basic version features 28-inch aluminum wheels and a 10-speed Shimano Deore transmission, bringing its weight to 18.5 kilograms. On the other hand, the high-performance version comes equipped with 28-inch Pancho Craze carbon fiber wheels and an advanced 11-speed Shimano Deore XT transmission, making it two kilograms lighter compared to the basic version to ensure a smoother and more professional driving experience.
In terms of performance and energy, the bike relies on a rear-wheel drive motor integrated into the wheel hub that works in conjunction with a built-in battery with a capacity of 350 watt-hours, to provide a torque of 42 Newton meters and a driving range of up to 80 kilometers in a single charge that takes only four hours to complete completely. Both versions share reliance on Shimano MT410 dual-piston hydraulic disc brakes and a carbon fiber fork to absorb shocks even on rough roads, while the bike is available in multiple sizes at a price of 3,999 euros for the basic version and 4,999 euros for the high-performance version via the company’s official website.
