The features of Apple’s foldable phone, the iPhone Fold, are finally taking shape, after 3D-printed models and leaked CAD designs appeared online.
These leaks indicate a clearly different design direction from Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series, as Apple adopts the Passport-style foldable phone style, similar to the original Oppo Find N.
According to circulating information, the iPhone Fold is shorter and wider compared to book-style foldable phones such as the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
On the other hand, Samsung does not seem far from this trend, as it is rumored to be working on a foldable phone with the same design philosophy to directly compete with Apple. The device is temporarily called Samsung Wide Fold, and it is expected to include an internal screen with a 4:3 aspect ratio.
In this context, the well-known leaker Ice Universe made a direct comparison between the designs of the iPhone Fold and the Samsung Wide Fold, revealing striking similarities and fundamental differences between the two devices.

Ice Universe based the comparison on non-final experimental models of both phones, explaining that the two devices share an internal screen with a 4:3 ratio when opened.
He also pointed out that the screen measurements differ slightly from those previously revealed by Ben Geskin in the triple-printed iPhone Fold model, as the Apple phone is said to come with a 5.35-inch external screen and a 7.58-inch internal screen.
As for the Samsung Wide Fold, it is expected to offer very close dimensions, with a 5.4-inch external screen and a 7.6-inch internal screen. Accordingly, if the thickness and weight are similar, the two phones are likely to provide a similar user experience in terms of feel in the hand.
Although the two companies rely on the concept of a wide phone and an internal screen with a 4:3 ratio, a clear difference appears in the design language. The Samsung Wide Fold is moving towards a sharper look and sharp corners, while the iPhone Fold relies on rounded edges that give it a feel closer to the original Google Pixel Fold design.
The wide and short design of the Oppo Find N phone had previously proven successful, as it provided a compact size when folded and a horizontal user experience when unfolded, a feature that many preferred compared to the vertical position that the Galaxy Z Fold series was famous for. Therefore, Apple’s move towards this style is of particular interest, as it is a departure from the traditional path.
Ultimately, expectations indicate that both the iPhone Fold and Samsung Wide Fold could be launched during the second half of 2026. With a long period remaining before launch, this information remains within the framework of leaks, which opens the door to possible changes in the design or final specifications.
