Motorola has introduced the next version of its Moto Tag 1 device, which was announced in 2024, which is the Moto Tag 2. This device is a compact alternative to the Apple AirTag, and works as a tracking accessory for Android devices, integrated with the Google Find Hub network.
Moto Tag 2 is compatible with phones running Android 9 and above, and is certified to meet the requirements for Google Find Hub accessories.
The device supports Bluetooth 6.0 with Channel Sounding along with Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology to provide more accurate tracking on supported Android devices equipped with UWB hardware.
Motorola explains that UWB tracking requires the device to be within 100 meters of another compatible Android device participating in the Find Hub network, while location sharing and tracking functions depend on activating Bluetooth and location services on the paired phone.
The Moto Tag 2 is powered by a replaceable CR2032 battery, with the battery capable of operating for more than 500 days under normal conditions. The device also includes a built-in 77 dB speaker at a distance of 10 cm, allowing audio alerts to be issued when searching for nearby items.

The device features dimensions of 31.9 x 31.9 x 8 mm, with a body made of plastic and metal, and carries an IP68 rating, which makes it dust-resistant and able to withstand under fresh water to a depth of 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes according to laboratory standards. It also supports an operating range from 0°C to 45°C.
On the privacy front, the Moto Tag 2 gets end-to-end encryption and alerts when unwanted tracking is detected, notifying users if an unknown tracking device is detected moving with them.
Additional smart features, accessible via the Moto Tag app, include remote camera control, phone finder, and location sharing.
