Last year, Lenovo launched the Legion Go S as the first non-Valve mobile device to officially run SteamOS, and also announced a Windows version. However, when the company unveiled the Legion Go 2 during CES 2025, it confirmed that it was not planning to release a SteamOS version for the mobile device.
Despite the official announcement of Legion Go 2 in September 2025, Lenovo repeated during the question and answer session that it would not officially provide a SteamOS version, despite the appearance of promotional images of the device running this system.
However, Lenovo has now officially announced during CES 2026 the release of Legion Go 2 with SteamOS.
The SteamOS version of Legion Go 2 carries the same technical specifications as the Windows version. The device comes with an 8.8-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1200, with a refresh rate of 144 Hz, an aspect ratio of 16:10, and a brightness of up to 500 nits.
The device supports an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor, LPDDR5X memory with a capacity of up to 32 GB, and fourth-generation M.2 2242 PCIe SSD storage with a capacity of up to 2 TB, with a microSD slot to add up to an additional 2 TB.

The device also includes Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, a headphone jack, dual 2-watt speakers, dual close-range microphones, and two Type-C ports that support USB 4.0, DisplayPort 1.4, and Power Delivery 3.0. The Legion Go 2 relies on a 74-watt-hour battery, and comes with a 65-watt charger in the box.
The SteamOS version of Legion Go 2 features the same black color as the Windows version, unlike the Legion Go S, which came in a different color for each version.
The device is scheduled to be available in June 2026 at a price starting at $1,199, which is slightly higher than the Windows version, whose price starts at $1,099.99 for the basic model equipped with a Ryzen Z2 processor, 16 GB of RAM, and 1 TB of storage.
