Amazon today opens access to its AI-powered Alexa+ chatbot to all users in the United States, after remaining exclusively to Early Access subscribers.
The company gives free, unlimited usage to Amazon Prime subscribers, while non-subscribers have two options: either a monthly subscription for $19.99, or rely on Alexa+ Chat, a dedicated text interface for quick answers, planning, research, and exploring new topics. Amazon explains that this option is free, but will be limited depending on usage without revealing additional details.

Alexa+ relies on extensive language models from Amazon Nova and Anthropic, and is available across Alexa devices, Alexa.com, and the Alexa mobile app. You can start using it via the voice command “Alexa, upgrade to Alexa+” or by logging into your account on Alexa.com.
Amazon points out that the early access phase saw very different uses compared to the previous version of Alexa, as users turned to more complex interactions and deeper conversations involving complex topics and events of the day. Alexa+ also features its ability to remember the context of conversations and follow the same topics over consecutive days.
