Today, Thursday, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized an international conference to discuss the humanitarian and security situation in the Belgorod region, one of the areas witnessing a conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Yulia Zhdanova, head of the Russian Federation delegation to the Vienna negotiations on military security and arms control, moderated the conference, which discussed field developments in the border areas with the participation of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the BRICS group, and representatives of the diplomatic corps of United Nations countries, in addition to humanitarian organizations and academics.


While Arseniy Matyushenko, Director of the Russian House, and a number of journalists attended the conference activities from inside the Russian Cultural Center in Alexandria.
During the sessions, a number of specialists analyzed the nature of the weapons used, their impact on the ground on populated areas, and the measures taken to enhance the protection of the population, in addition to a speech from Rodion Miroshnik, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Data was presented about the repercussions of the conflict on the energy sector, during specialized sessions to discuss the impact of military operations on infrastructure and civilians
The dialogue also discussed mechanisms for holding accountable those responsible for recorded violations, and discussed ways to enhance civil protection and security of supplies in the affected area, to ensure the provision of a comprehensive analytical and official vision of current developments.
Participants addressed questions related to the extent of compliance with international humanitarian law, and assessed future risks resulting from the use of drones and their impact on public security.
