Dr. Amr Dowidar, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Sohag, received a delegation from the Ministry of Health and Population headed by Engineer Ali Abdel Sater, accompanied by Dr. Ghassan Hani Zbib, Director of Projects at the Qatar Fund for Development, in preparation for establishing the largest hospital in Upper Egypt in Sohag Governorate.

Dowidar explained that the project aims to establish a new Sohag General Hospital with a capacity of approximately 400 beds, which represents an unprecedented qualitative leap in the level of health services provided to the people of the governorate and neighboring Upper Egypt governorates, and contributes to reducing the burden on current hospitals and raising the efficiency of medical performance.
During the visit, the Undersecretary and the accompanying delegation inspected the proposed hospital site, and reviewed the available capabilities and preparation works, in preparation for marking the start of executive work in accordance with the latest technical and engineering standards approved by the Ministry of Health.
Dowidar stressed that this giant project comes within the framework of the state’s vision to advance the health sector and achieve justice in the distribution of medical services, praising the continuous support from the political leadership and the Ministry of Health, and the fruitful cooperation with international partners, which reflects positively on the health of the Suhagy citizen and the quality of health care provided to him. This was within the framework of the Egyptian state’s support for the health system and expanding the scope of medical services provided to citizens, and in accordance with the directives of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population.
