With the date of one of the most anticipated cinematic projects approaching, international director Christopher Nolan officially revealed the first promotional trailer for his new film. Odysseybased on the immortal Greek epic of Homer, to ignite the enthusiasm of cinema audiences around the world.
The film is scheduled to premiere in cinemas on July 17, 2026, and will be one of the most prominent films of the summer of that year.
A teaser that raises expectations
The announcement of The Odyssey, which was released in December 2025, came after a short introductory clip that was shown exclusively in cinemas last July, and provided the first glimpses of the film’s epic atmosphere, most notably the appearance of Matt Damon in the role of Odysseus, and Tom Holland in the role of his son Telemachus, along with symbolic scenes of the Trojan Horse.

The film tells the story of Odysseus, King of Ithaca, and his arduous ten-year journey to return to his homeland after the end of the Trojan War, in one of the most famous literary epics in history.
During his absence, his wife Penelope and his son Telemachus try to maintain the stability of the kingdom, in light of the competition of a number of suitors who believe that Odysseus has died.
Telemachus embarks on a search for his father, while Odysseus faces a series of dangers, encountering famous mythological figures such as Calypso and Circe, and with the support of the goddess Athena, before finally returning to Ithaca to face his fate and regain his throne.

The film includes a remarkable group of Hollywood stars, led by Matt Damon in the role of Odysseus, Tom Holland in the role of Telemachus, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, John Leguizamo.
The film represents a renewed collaboration between Nolan and Damon after their success in Oppenheimer, and the work also brings together Nolan and Anne Hathaway again after Interstellar and The Dark Knight Rises.
An unprecedented technical achievement
According to Universal, The Odyssey is the first film in history to be shot entirely using the latest IMAX cameras, which reflects Nolan’s ambition to provide an unprecedented visual experience, consistent with the magnitude of the legendary story.
