Major General Ashraf Al-Jundi directed the intensification of large and surprise campaigns on restaurants and food preparation and circulation places. He did not content himself with directing, but personally led an inspection campaign after midnight on prepared food and grill shops in Al-Mahalla, with the participation of Major General Mohamed Anani, head of the Central Administration for the Affairs of the Governor’s Office, the Directorate of Supply and Veterinary Medicine, and the Lunch Safety Authority. This came after 17 workers were infected with suspected food poisoning.
Seizing meat of unknown origin
The campaign resulted in the seizure of 18 kilograms of meat of unknown origin and suspected suitability, and the seizure of 46 kilograms of other meat of unknown origin and suspected suitability, in addition to 8.5 kilograms of liver and hawawshi of unknown origin and suspected suitability. 12 reports were also issued regarding health violations and lack of requirements and food safety, bringing the total seized to 72.5 kilograms of inedible meat.
Massive campaigns on the streets
In the same context, the Governor of Gharbia launched a massive campaign for cleanliness and lifting occupancy after midnight in Al-Bahr, Al-Sagha, Al-Sheshtawi Square, Numan Al-Aasar, the Friday Market area, the religious institute street, and the popular square street in Bandar Al-Mahalla, where the illegal occupancy was lifted, the level of public cleanliness was improved, and street discipline was restored, stressing that these campaigns come within the framework of ensuring traffic flow and preserving the civilized appearance of the city.
Major General Ashraf El-Gindy confirmed that field campaigns will continue around the clock, whether monitoring food or cleaning and occupancy campaigns, stressing that Gharbia Governorate takes immediate and decisive action in any issue that affects the health of citizens or the quality of their daily lives.
