She announced Ministry of Communications And information technology, the communications sector in Egypt witnessed rapid development during the year 2025, which strengthened its role as one of the main engines of economic growth. This development was evident in the increase in the sector’s contribution as a service and a productive one at the same time, as a result of the expansion of digital transformation projects, the development of digital infrastructure, and the acceleration of the adoption of modern technologies, most notably artificial intelligence and the fifth generation, in accordance with the objectives of Egypt’s digital strategy.

The Ministry explained that these efforts contributed to expanding the digitization of government services, enhancing the use of modern technologies in developing all sectors, increasing digital exports, attracting investments, and creating new job opportunities, which reflects a qualitative shift in the role of the sector and its direct impact on economic development.

Launching new services to enhance the technological infrastructure

The year 2025 also witnessed the launch of fifth generation services in Egypt with investments amounting to $675 million from four companies, which represents a qualitative leap in the field of communications services.

These services provide high-speed internet speeds, support distance education, digital healthcare, electronic games, and smart banking services, in addition to enabling users to benefit from augmented reality and artificial intelligence applications, and they also constitute a basis for launching innovative future applications.

The Wi-Fi Calling service has also been activated, which allows voice calls to be made with high quality and purity of sound in places that suffer from weak mobile network coverage, such as some towers and residential and commercial buildings.

As part of expanding the scope of smart digital services, the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority signed new licenses with seven international companies to provide “Internet of Things” services for cars in Egypt. This service enables drivers to benefit from navigation, tracking, and emergency relief systems in a safe and orderly manner, while ensuring the protection of users’ data and privacy.
