Punkt, the leader in the field of minimal and privacy phones, announced its strong return during CES 2026 in Las Vegas (from January 6 to 9, 2026), by unveiling a new model of the Minimal Phone smartphone. This announcement is an important step for the Swiss company, which is famous for its simple products dedicated to reducing addiction to smartphones, after a period of relative absence in the market.

The new Minimal Phone features a minimalist design focused on privacy and essentials, with a monochrome E-Ink display to save power and reduce distraction, and a QWERTY physical keyboard for quick typing. The device supports limited applications such as text messages, calls, calendar, and notes, while avoiding annoying social applications and notifications to enhance focus. It also includes advanced privacy features such as no data tracking, encryption of communications, and the absence of a camera in some versions to avoid surveillance.

According to the report, the phone runs on a custom operating system built on Android open source (AOSP), with a long-lasting battery of up to weeks in standby mode, and support for 4G networks (with the possibility of adding 5G in future versions). Punkt did not reveal the exact price of the device, but it is expected to range between $400 and $600, similar to its previous models such as the MP02, with availability in the first half of 2026.

This phone is seen as an alternative for those looking for a “digital detox”, at a time when interest in simple phones such as the Light Phone and Mudita is increasing. The announcement reflects Punkt’s commitment to its philosophy of offering devices that focus on substance rather than excess on technology, making it an attractive option for users who suffer from addiction to traditional smartphones.
