Major General Staff Ayman Abdel Mohsen confirmed that Dr. Badr Abdel Ati’s visit to Washington is not limited to containing the current crisis, but rather carries broader dimensions related to supporting security and stability in the Middle East region, especially in light of its connection to American domestic policy calculations, most notably the midterm elections.

Military achievements

He explained, during his interview with the journalist Nashat Al-Daihi on the “Al-Mashhad” program on Channel Ten, that the American administration has begun promoting what it describes as “military achievements,” referring to the announcement of targeting about 13,000 targets, including 1,500 sites for missile launch systems, and 800 targets for storing aircraft, in addition to the destruction of 905 pieces of the Iranian naval fleet, in an attempt to highlight the results of its movements on the ground.

He added that Iran’s nuclear file remains the most prominent challenge facing the American administration, in light of the escalating threats related to the possibility of closing the Strait of Hormuz, in addition to what he indicated of the existence of prior coordination with the Iranian army in some moves.

Tightening restrictions on navigation

He pointed out that the blockade policy targets two main parts: The first is economic by tightening restrictions on navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and Iranian ports, which exacerbates the economic pressures inside Iran, and the second is political, aiming to strengthen pressure cards during the negotiation process.

Stop uranium enrichment

He concluded that the United States relies on a combination of “intimidation and enticement” policies in its dealings with Iran, suggesting that the negotiations will ultimately result in an agreement to halt uranium enrichment for a period of up to 15 years, thus achieving a degree of calm and placing restrictions on the Iranian nuclear program.
