Saw a semi-final UEFA Champions League This season is a remarkable paradox, as there were clubs that were strongly at the top of their local leagues, with the exception of Atletico Madrid, which appears as a “different case” among the adults.
Bayern Munich is competing at the top of the German League with 76 points, and is a big step closer to clinching the title, after imposing its control over the local competition this season.
In France, Paris Saint-Germain continues to lead the French League with 63 points, confirming its usual dominance and closeness to winning the title.
As for England, Arsenal leads the English Premier League table with 70 points, in an exceptional season during which the Gunners seek to regain a long-awaited title.
Amidst this scene, Atletico Madrid appears far from the top of the Spanish League, as it occupies third place, being the only team among the semi-final clubs that does not lead the local competition, which makes it the “outsider” in this round compared to its competitors.
Despite this, the team led by Diego Simeone confirms that the Champions League does not recognize the local standings only, but rather relies on small details and experience in major confrontations, which was demonstrated in its strong journey until reaching the semi-finals.
This paradox remains evidence that European competition has different calculations, as a team that is not at the top of its country’s league can compete strongly for the biggest continental titles.
