US President Donald Trump presented the Medal of Honor, the highest military decoration in the United States, to Chief Warrant Officer Eric Slover, who was injured in the raid that targeted the arrest of former Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in Caracas at the beginning of last January.

The US President said during his State of the Union address that there were “many heroes” in the arrest of Maduro, adding, “This warrior’s heroics that night will be immortalized in the annals of eternal military courage.”

Trump explained that Slover was piloting the first Chinook helicopter that landed on Maduro’s military compound in the middle of the night, and was seriously injured in his leg and thigh while preparing to land.

Trump added: “However, although the use of his legs was necessary for the helicopter’s successful flight, all that Eric was concerned about was transporting several commandos who would capture and detain Maduro.”

In another context, the American President confirmed that he prefers to resolve the crisis with Iran through diplomacy, but one thing is certain, which is that I will never allow the largest sponsor of terrorism in the world, which applies to them indisputably, to possess a nuclear weapon.

President Trump said Iran had not spoken the “magic words” to reach an agreement, despite repeated statements from officials.

“We’re negotiating with them,” Trump explained during his State of the Union address. “They want to make a deal, but we haven’t heard those secret words: We will never have a nuclear weapon.”

Trump added that he would prefer to reach an agreement with Iran, but they did not say what American officials want to hear, which is that they will not build a nuclear weapon.
