On Friday, the British government granted the United States permission to use military bases in Britain to launch strikes on Iranian missile sites attacking ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

The British ministers met; To discuss war with Iran and Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz, according to a statement from Downing Street cited by Reuters.
The statement said: They confirmed that the agreement that allows the United States to use UK bases in collective self-defense in the region includes American defensive operations to weaken missile sites and capabilities used to attack ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said in a post on the
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said this week that Britain would not be drawn into a war over Iran, and he initially rejected a US request to use British bases to launch strikes on Iran, saying he needed to ensure the legality of any military action.
But the Prime Minister revised his position after Iran launched strikes on Britain’s allies across the Middle East, saying the US could use RAF Fairford and Diego Garcia, a joint US-UK base in the Indian Ocean.
President Donald Trump has repeatedly attacked Starmer since the conflict began, complaining that he is not doing enough to help him.
