A phone call took place between Dr. Badr Abdel Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptians Abroad Affairs, and Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the sisterly United Arab Emirates, yesterday, Monday, January 5, within the framework of continuous consultation and coordination between the two brotherly countries regarding ways to support bilateral relations, and to discuss a number of regional issues of common interest.

Contact between the Egyptian and Emirati Foreign Ministers

Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that Minister Abdel-Ati stressed during the call the depth of the fraternal relations between Egypt and the UAE, and the close cooperation and continuous coordination it is witnessing at various levels, stressing the common keenness to continue building on the existing positive momentum, and to enhance areas of bilateral cooperation, in a way that achieves the common interests of the two brotherly peoples.

The call dealt with developments in the Palestinian issue, of course, the current catastrophic conditions in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and the efforts made to implement President Trump’s peace plan.
The call also discussed developments in the situation in Sudan and the importance of continuing the existing coordination within the framework of the Quartet Mechanism, with the aim of pushing towards reaching a humanitarian truce and establishing safe humanitarian havens and corridors to reach a comprehensive ceasefire.
The call touched on developments in the situation in Yemen, where the importance of supporting the path of calm and de-escalation, and supporting the Yemeni national dialogue, was emphasized. Minister Abdel-Ati stressed the importance of reaching a comprehensive political settlement of the crisis in Yemen through an inclusive Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue, in a way that preserves Yemen’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, and achieves the aspirations of its brotherly people for security and stability.
At the conclusion of the call, the two ministers agreed on the importance of continuing close coordination and consultation during the next stage regarding various regional and international issues, in a way that enhances joint Arab action and contributes to achieving stability in the region.
