A shooting at an apartment complex at South Carolina State University left two people dead and another injured, according to the Associated Press.

The university said on Friday that two people were killed and a third person was injured following a shooting that occurred inside a residential complex affiliated with South Carolina State University.

The university explained in a press release that its officials have not yet confirmed the identities of the victims or the health condition of the injured person.

The university imposed a complete lockdown on the campus in Orangeburg at approximately 9:15 pm, immediately after receiving a report of the shooting incident, and the closure continued four hours after that.

Investigators were present at the scene of the accident, while law enforcement forces intensified their patrols inside the university campus and surrounding areas.

The university also announced the cancellation of classes today, Friday, and the provision of psychological counseling services to students.
