Dr. Mohamed Salah Al-Badri, a member of the Senate and Secretary of the National Front Party in Minya Governorate, said that he is always keen within the Senate, especially within the Health Committee, while discussing files related to health, to maintain the distance between the right of doctors and the right of the patient because he represents the people and not the doctors within the Senate.

He continued on the Politics Secrets program with Hind Mukhtar on Heya channel, that the last legislative term of the Senate discussed a number of important pieces of legislation, including the law that sparked controversy, which is medical liability, saying: The medical liability law is very good and a good step on the way, and what was approved is an achievement, but the problem is that this law in particular was “demonized” in the media by an active actor who did not want this law to come to light, and the law entered into a stranglehold outside the framework of the parliament and legislation.

He continued regarding the Medical Liability Law: I am a doctor and parliamentary immunity does not protect me at work. Therefore, if I commit a mistake in my work, I will be held accountable in accordance with the Medical Liability Law.

The Secretary of the National Front Party in Minya Governorate said about the amendments to the electricity law that were approved by the Senate and the controversy surrounding them: Those who are upset about the increased punishment for stealing electricity have the intention of violating and stealing, and those who do not want to be punished should not violate the law. Penalties in the laws were created to prevent violations, adding, saying: If strong laws are not put in place, the whole world will turn into “barbarians,” and the system that we praise in Europe came about due to their respect and fear of the law and penalties.

Medicine in Egypt is one of Egypt’s treasures

The Secretary of the National Front Party in Minya Governorate spoke about medicine in Egypt, saying: Medicine in Egypt is one of Egypt’s treasures. We can make money from it that exceeds the revenues from the Suez Canal, because the Egyptian companies that manufacture medicine have a good reputation outside Egypt, but the problem is that the production of these companies has diminished by ten… And we have a problem in Egypt, which is the forced pricing of medicines because exporting medicine abroad requires mentioning the prices of the country of origin, and the price of the medicine in Egypt in dollars is not mentioned. Egypt is literally the cheapest country in the world in terms of drug prices, and major international pharmaceutical companies look at the price of the country of origin. How will he gain profit from it?

He continued: We have a solution to this matter while maintaining the forced pricing by having two boxes of the same medicine, one for the local market at the appropriate local prices for the Egyptian citizen. Let us, for example, take a box of medicine with 10 tablets at a price suitable for the citizen and another of the same medicine with 12 tablets at a higher price for export only and not for the local market.
